It is two for Tuesday and my sincere apologies for not getting my Monday morning blog out on Monday. I believe I was still in shock and suffering from severe potential heart trauma from Saturday nights SEC Championship game between the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama. It was a college football game for the ages. It was so very very unfortunate that there had to be a loser. Saturday, two college football giants played their hearts and souls out and left nothing on the gridiron battling for all of the SEC marbles and chance to move on the College Football Championship. Congratulations to both teams and Roll Tide!!!!!

For the past seven years like most everyone in Huntsville I have ventured downtown over the Christmas holidays to see the amazing display of decorated Christmas Trees lined up limb to limb in Big Spring Park east. The trees are “adopted” by businesses, organizations and individuals and decorated with festive holiday themes, some humorous, some religious and some that look nothing like a traditional tree.

As the sun sets Big Spring Park comes alive with the twinkle of the Christmas lights and the hundreds to thousands of nightly visitors that are young and young at heart meandering through the park taking selfies and enjoying what the holidays are all about – family and friends. As I look around at the thousands of twinkling lights, it really does bring the child out in each and every one of us. And takes us back. What better time then now to stop and thank the lord for another year of wondrous gifts and for the one very important reason that we celebrate the birth of Christ.

Tinsel Trail has become a holiday tradition for the City of Huntsville as much as families sharing time together and opening presents. I look forward to it each year not only as a photographer but more so to bring the kid out in me one more time and at my age that has become a challenge! Unless you believe what most of my friends say, that I just never grew up!! And isn’t that really what the holidays is all about, a gift of love that embraces everything about the season and the ones we cherish most. Let me be one of the first to wish you a very joyous and happy holiday!!!!
