A very good Monday morning to you all. I trust you were able to find a place of warmth and make the best of the weekend weather.
This week finds me traveling south on a 2-week shoot trip through Alabama, Mississippi and eventually on to central Florida. I am looking forward to the possibility of escaping the cold blistering winter weather of the “Frozen Tundra of northern Alabama!”
As luck would have it, the weatherman finally got it right. Wednesday’s prediction of 4-6 inches of snow to northern Alabama was right on, but just a little later in its arrival then originally projected. Basically knowing that we were going to get the snow, I choose to cancel a planned trip to Nashville and hunkered down with cameras in hand waiting the onslaught. So like most I sat and sat and sat awaiting the arrival but once it arrived, there was turning back. I grabbed my camera and out I went, picking as many spots as I could anticipating the potential of a two-day wonderland. One of my favorite places to trek is Cummings Research Park. The majestic nature of snow covering the architectural wonderland of the park is always a photographers dream come true. As I toured the area I found myself heading to Hudson Alpha and came upon the “Power of Thought” statue standing in all of its glory covered in a winters coat.
With the light disappearing and my toes frozen from the snow I called it a day knowing all to well that I would eagerly be anticipating the sunrise of day two. To say the least, the anticipation of a great day two of snow photography was well warranted. With every location I encountered, it was a welcomed challenge to try and capture the essence of the moment knowing all too well that Mother Nature’s art was slowly melting away! The good news, at the end of day I had a huge child like smile on my face knowing that I had so much to review from my two days and knowing that I had a lot of editing in front of me.
Enjoy!!!!!
