A very happy Monday morning to you. Just when you thought it was safe to put your umbrella up for the season and we get a deluge like we did Saturday evening. The good news is we had outstanding cooler temperatures on Sunday.

Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our country and like most, I spent the day reflecting on how much our country has changed and remembering all that lost their lives. It was a horrific tragedy and a day of images that we will forever have etched in our minds. I was backpacking in the southern Sierras with friends and totally unaware of the events that day until we exited out of the mountains 3 days later.

Memorials are held all over the country commemorating the day and honoring those that lost their lives. Last year I was fortunate enough to be visiting family and had the opportunity to visit one of the most stirring memorials I have had the pleasure to witness, the 9/11 Healing Field in Tempe, AZ. Over 3000 flags are strategically placed around Tempe Beach Park, representing each of the victims of the 9-11 attack at the World Trade Center. One of the most riveting sites were the hundreds of boots placed under the flags representing military victims and the yellow ribbons attached to poles representing first responders.

As I walked through the park last year trying to grasp the enormity of the display, I could not help but notice the many visitors who were visibly over come with emotion as well. My only thought was how hard might it be to actually known someone that had lost a family member or friend on that day.

As my visit to the memorial was coming to an end, the sun broke through a bank of clouds and I could not help but think how GOD always finds a way to help put things in perspective. It has been 15 years since that horrific day that changed our nation forever and it is memorials like this that continue to help mend our hearts.  In Tribute to those that lost their lives ……
