A very happy Monday morning to you. I hope you were able to make the most of the weekend.
For most living in the Huntsville area it was Panoply weekend, Huntsville’s premier 3-day art festival that is hosted by an exceptional staff and a multitude of volunteers from the Arts Council. If you know anything about Panoply, you know it is synonymous with beautiful art, incredible music, excellent fireworks, tasty food and wonderful community! Also what would Panoply be if there weren’t some prediction of inclement weather looming on the horizon? Luckily for Panoply the weathermen missed the boat on their predications allowing for massive crowds and a stellar weekend of art celebration.
There are certain traditions that we have come to expect from Panoply that provide comfort and are so very special to the community. One of those traditions is yearly appearance of a local music group, Microwave Dave and the Nukes. The band has had the very special task of basically opening and closing every Panoply with the exception of missing one. On Friday, the band played to a very enthusiastic thong of elementary schools kids educating them on the music of the “blues”, love and heartache, musical instruments and the joy of not being at school for the day. The band closes each set out with the crowd pleasing participation anthem, “Hey Bo Diddley!” On Sunday the tradition continues as they take the stage as one of the festivals closing acts. When it comes to listening to Microwave Dave, traditions are oh so sweet even if he gives you the “blues!”
What might be the other most anticipated tradition that Panoply shares? Most that have attended the event would say the fireworks show, which signifies the end of day 1 and 2 for the arts festival. If the fireworks are booming sky high you know that the weather has held and that the festival enthusiasts have enjoyed another day of the arts!!!!
Keep us in mind for any of your upcoming photographic assignments. All of the art showcased in my blogs, as well as, on my web sites is available for publication or for purchase as corporate and residential collectible art.
