Welcome to Monday morning! I hope this note finds you doing well and firmly entrenched in your office seat with a cup of coffee or hot tea.
Last weekend was a birthday weekend for me and my game plan was to escape to the gulf coast and spend my time with friends in a very relaxed setting. My determined goal was to not exert too much emotional or physical energy on giving any recognition to the milestone. So off to Perdido Key I headed with the thought of escaping the day with an uneventful birthday celebration that most likely would involve a few friends and “sand, sushi and libations.” Little did I know or expect that “spontaneity” would become the key foundation for the days to follow. The mild mannered celebration ended up being one for the record books thanks to two very special friends, Marc and Marina.
Unbeknownst to me, Marc was flying in from South Florida and once he hit the grown my uneventful celebration took off like a rocket. After a “large unforgettable evening “ in Pensacola painting the town, there was a decision made sometime very late Thursday evening (or morning) that we should continue the festivities in New Orleans. So bags were packed and off to New Orleans we headed!!! So much for my so-called planned “relaxing uneventful non birthday recognition” weekend!
Without going into too many details because New Orleans, like Vegas, has the mantra of what “Goes on in Nawlens, stays in Nawlens!!!” We were joined by a good friend of Marc’s, Bernard and a very dear friend of mine who just happened to be in New Orleans, Michelle. I guess it is best served by saying that the group, led by “tour guide Michelle”, did all that you do while visiting New Orleans; touring Bourbon Street, listening to music to the wee hours of the morning on Frenchmas St., visiting the art Galleries on Royal and eating our fair share of Beignets at Café du Monde!!! When in “ROME” they say or more aptly when in New Orleans. I could go into much further detail but I feel it is best left to what little memory we all have of the festivities. What I can say is what was to be an uneventful birthday turned into a “bucket list celebration”, thanks to the efforts of some dear friends that chose to see my birthday celebraion differntly.
Many thanks to all that sent me birthday well wishes. Thanks to Bernard and Ms Michelle for joinging in on the celebration. But most importantly thanks to two very special friends, Marc and Marina, for making this birthday one that I will not soon forget. Of course I have photos to fill in the gaps!!!!!!! ENJOY!!
