I know I am a day late in my greeting but like most people, I spent Monday recovering from celebrating New Years Eve and then watching some (a lot) college football. Congratulations to the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama for their incredible wins and making the up coming CFP game an all South Eastern Conference final.

This is my 17th year to travel to San Diego for the New Year and celebrate with friends. Each year we have found different ways to ring in the New Year including a heavy dose of watching college football games and we have been blessed to have an SEC team in the playoffs for many of those years. It was exhausting this year watching UGA and then UA capture their respective bowl games on New Years day but somehow we lasted through it!

On New Years Eve day we did some touring around the city and ended up at an overlook at Blacks Beach where they hang glide. The cliff is just west ot Torrey Pines golf course and has an exceptional view of the city of La Jolla. It was an overcast day but made for an incredible view of the beach as the sun peaked through.

From there we headed to one of my favorite seafood restaurants, Point Loma Seafood and enjoyed their famous clam chowder and fish tacos. New Years Eve has always had an extra special meaning for my friends Dana and Renee Cavanaugh because they got married on Coronado on New Years Eve 14 years ago. Part of this evenings goal was to end up back on Coronado island, head to the beach, pop a couple of bottles of Champagne and watch the sunset and toast their anniversary. So off we went, grabbed our six-seater golf cart, headed to the beach and celebrate we did.

The evening was capped off with a very spirited and cold ride in a golf cart through the streets of Coronado as we headed off to meet friends at the Hotel Del for dinner. I tried to talk Dana into valet parking the cart but lesser inebriated minds prevailed and we found a parking space close to the hotel and with in walking distance of our destination. It was a repeat of last years group and a fabulous time and dinner was had by all. I hope your New Year celebration was a memorable one. ENJOY!
