I write you today from the Heartland of America, Pittsfield, IL.
I am here instructing at a photographic workshop for Supershoots.com

Pittsfield is one of those small mid western cities that is the epitome of Americana with its town square, rolling flat lands, barns and grain silos, drive-in theatre and a Wal-Mart. It is best known for it deer population where the vast majority can be seen most evenings grazing on the side of the road and tempting fate by participating in “dodge car” and looking at you with their “deer in the headlights” stare.

While traveling the back roads looking for shoot locations to use during the workshop we came across the “General Store” in a surrounding town of Atlas, IL. As with most general stores of their era, it has a little bit of everything to tempt passerby’s curiosity including Amish goods, a store Indian local souvenirs and cold libations. But the one thing that grabbed by eye was the store sign under the American flag, which in part read, “Eat here, Get worms!” To their benefit I am sure that was not what was meant but we decided to not tempt fate and drove to the local café to grab lunch. Their daily meat and three did not include an worm specials.

On to the next stop!
