Good morning to you all and I hope that you enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend with family and friends. It is the last of the summer holidays but more importantly it is one that celebrates and honors those that have given so much for our freedoms. I trust that you gave pause to reflect on why this particular weekend means so much to our way of life. We salute all the men and women that have served our country.
About a month ago, during one of my rare stays in Alabama, I had the sincere pleasure to be asked to do something I do not get to do that often. I was recommended by a dear friend to do some family portraits of some of her relatives that would entail among many setups, a four generation grouping. I had a preliminary meeting and fell in love with the home and farm location that we were going to use to do the shoot. As I walked around I got a strong sense of “home” and felt quite comfortable there as it brought back fond memories of my childhood, playing around my grandparents residence in Athens, GA. I just felt like I belonged.
As I walked around it was just seemed to be one inspirational setting after another. You could tell that the landscaping was not someones job or hobby but rather a true passion and love which must have been truly appreciated every day sitting on the porch swing and chairs.
I realized that this was going to be an exceptional shoot due to the incredible backdrops we would be able to use and exceptional it was. To say the least, it was a portrait photographers dream location. One of the more picturesque locations was an old wooden wagon, filled with a bed of flowers, positioned next to an ivy-laden brick wall. It was picture perfect.
I am very grateful to John and Mitzi for giving me the opportunity to capture such a wonderful time and location. ENJOY!!!!
