Happy Taco Tuesday to you all. Another few weeks dealing with the COVID-19 virus then hopefully we will a move to open up more business and the new “normal.” I know that we all are patiently awaiting the light at the end of the tunnel. Wash your hands, wear your mask and social distance!!!
Social distancing aside, today is Cinco de Mayo and would have been one of those days to get together and it would have been anything but social distancing. This year Cinco de Mayo falls on Taco Tuesday. Also called the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, the holiday is celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. The holiday celebration is most noted for its association with large consumptions of Tequila and Mexican food! This year we will have to celebrate in the privacy of our homes.
In preparation for today it got me to thinking about my previous trips to Mexico and all the fun that was had even when I was not during the month of May. I must admit that most of the trips did involve consuming the local fare and local libations. Always a good time was had by all.
In honor of our defeat of Napoleon, I offer up a couple of fond memories!!!
Senoritas
Gringos
And what celebration would be complete if it did not include a BAMA gnome having a libation from the confines of a refreshing pool.
Feliz cinco de mayo! Enjoy, drink responsibly and don’t drive …. PLEASE be safe!
