Celebrate Good Times

Monday, April 27th, 2009

There’s a party goin’ on right here. A celebration to last throughout the years.
So bring your good times, and your laughter too. We gonna celebrate your party with you!

Kool and the Gang may just have had this weekend in mind when they wrote the song - Celebration. What a wonderful weekend and what a spectacular closing to the downtown arts festival - Panoply. Watching the fireworks from Monte Sano provided an exceptional view of the city and the perfect seat for taking in the breathtaking fireworks display.

I hope you all found something to celebrate with such a wonderful weekend to do so.

Gone Fish’n

Monday, April 20th, 2009

The last few days in Huntsville have been what we wish our weather could be year round. It is the type of spring days we dream about during our whacky winter months. How wonderful to finally find ourselves outdoors doing those things we so desire to do. These are they days that we get lost in, hiking our trails, planting our gardens, biking the county roads, golfing the manicured courses, boating and fishing the beautiful lakes and rivers or just enjoying a leisurely picnic lunch in the park. These days provide the much needed relaxation to compliment our hurried and complex lives. You know  …. these are the special times and activities that make Huntsville such a wonderful place to live – we have it all right here!! Carpe diem!!!!!

The attached image of two fisherman finding solitude and enjoyment fishing under the setting sun and shadows of the Tennessee River Bridge at Ditto Landing speaks for itself.

Greatest Show on Earth

Monday, April 13th, 2009

It has occurred once a month for my entire life yet it presents itself for the entire world to witness. It is one thing if I were to guess, there is no one living that has not stared in awe at its beauty and splendor. For that brief period of time, it draws us in like a magnate and at first glimpse we are left mesmerized! It beckons us, it calms us and it speaks to us of love . We have been there. Don’t you think it is about time we found our way back and rekindle the affair???? Mother Natures Full Moon Rising!!!!

No matter how many times I have witnessed a Full Moon, I continued to be mystified by its magnificent glory. It is a spectacular sight. It might be the greatest show on earth and for those that choose to look up ….. it is FREE!

For those camera buffs, the image was taken Thursday evening with a Canon 300mm lens with a 2x extender. The original image (about 1/8 of the frame) was cropped to provide the resized image.

I have uploaded new photo web galleries with current images of the city. If you are in need of stock imagery or corporate art, contact me and I will be glad to provide the links for viewing.

Spring Has Sprung – Big Spring

Monday, April 6th, 2009

For those receiving the dK-blog for the first time or for those loyal readers … come out of hibernation …. Spring has sprung and the grass is here.

One of the joys of living in Huntsville is we have Spring … well Big Spring … year round. For those that have not visited, Big Spring Park is one of the scenic icon of the city’s skyline.  Big Spring Park, at one point in history, was the hub of commerce and trade for the city. How amazed might the “Huntsvillian’s” of the past, find the city’s skyline of today. How surprised visitors are when they visit and see the beauty of the city. For me, it is always a visual pleasure to capture the place I call …… “home!”

The view of the Huntsville’s city skyline was taken last week on one of my “pictorial explorations!”  The dramatic sky was provided by the spring fury of Mother Nature!
